Crack the grain
if your
supply store doesn't. Here, a blender was used with great results.
Put it in the cloth bag, and boil for about an hour
in a gallon or two of water
Remove it (be sure to squeeze all the grainy goodness into the mix!)
Add the malt
and 3/4
of your hops and
let it loil about an hour. In this batch, a can of brand name
extract was used.
Add the remainder of your hops, boil another 5 minutes
This is called adding the "finishing" hops.
Have your fermenter ready to go. Use ice to get the temp down
fast.
The ice does the trick... see thermometer on the side of fermenter
I don't have one of these... I'm jealous. You need the temp down
so you don't kill the yeast and to avoid airborne impurities from having
time to get in.
Dump in the hot wert
Top off the fermenter to 5 gallons
Sprinkle on the yeast
Put the top on, the airlock in, and
WAIT FOR THE YEAST TO DO ITS JOB!!!!
