The parts:
  • 1          The eardrum is a part everyone is familiar with.  It shakes when compressional waves (sound) hit it.
  • 2,3,4     These are the bones that conduct vibrations.
  •  5         The cochlea receives the vibrations.Inside, tiny hairs are moved by the vibrations.
  • 6          Each hair is at the end of a nerve cell, which sends signals to the brain.
