How fast are you going?

This is often a pretty easy question to answer.  While sitting down at the computer, your speed is zero.
Even in a car, it's often not a big deal.  You look down and the speedometer tells you your speed.

What is speed?

Speed is a combination of two units.  To have a speed, you must have moved some distance. You must also spend some time moving that distance.  What do you tell people when they ask you how fast you are going?  You give them something like "60 miles per hour". This speed is composed of a distance (miles) AND a time (hours).  Said more clearly, speed is a change in distance per unit of time.

It's not always in miles per hour is it?

Nope.  You can have many speed units, as long as they contain a distance unit AND a time unit.  These moving ants could be measured in miles per hour, but think of how tiny the anwser would be!  What would make more sense?  Maybe something like feet per day or inches per minute...
